The New York is Book Country (NYIBC) mission is to celebrate the joy of reading in book lovers of all ages. Union Square Park for 2010 moves the festival to a familiar, popular and convenient location.
New York is Book Country is open to the public for FREE. Who should attend? Anyone who loves a NYC park on a springtime Sunday afternoon. We welcome everyone who reads, wants to read, or is read to by others: Parents, grandparents, children, teachers, librarians, aunts, uncles and babysitters.
2010 revival of New York is Book Country will see the festival entering a new era, carrying a 30 year NYC tradition forward for generations to come. 100+ booths will include large publishers, small presses, antique/specialty book sellers, independent publishers, self-published authors, international/cultural organizations, artists and performers, music and food.
The festival will cater to children with engaging activities and performances that foster literacy in a family-friendly environment. We are partnering with the Children's Book Council and Children's Book Week, the longest running literacy event in the United States.
Come and mingle with the most diverse community of readers on the planet. Share a book fair with New Yorkers across racial and cultural lines, socio-economic groups, local and international borders. If you write, illustrate, publish or sell books, NYIBC is a unique opportunity to gain attention for your work within the literary melting pot of New York City.
If you are simply a reader and appreciator of books, come and check out new titles being featured, and perhaps have a favorite book signed by the author.
Join us for New York is Book Country Sunday, May 16 and help spread the word! Mention NYIBC. Tell everyone you know to save the date. We look forward to a fantastic day for everyone.
